The Only Ones Founder Alan Mair Announces New Album

Alan Mair, a founding member of The Only Ones, is returning with a new solo album, Field Of One. Scheduled for release on 3rd August 2026, the album continues the work of an artist whose influence has reached far beyond his own recordings.

As part of The Only Ones, Mair helped shape a sound that went on to inspire artists including The Replacements, Nirvana, The Libertines and Blur. Having performed thousands of concerts and major festivals such as Glastonbury and Wireless Festival, he brings decades of experience into this new release.

Field Of One features twelve songs written by Mair and performed largely by him. The album includes lead guitar by Zal Cleminson and keyboards on selected tracks by Paul Rabigar, adding depth to a record already defined by Mair’s personal writing and alternative rock sensibility.

The lead single, “How Could I Let This Happen,” introduces the album with a powerful meditation on regret and irreversible moments. It shows Mair continuing to create music that is emotionally open, musically rich and unmistakably his own.
